Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

The massage was great! I really, really, really enjoyed it!

Wish I could say the same about American Idol...I just don't think I can handle another week of the boy who wears his hair in ponytails on top of his head!!!! Seriously, why is he still in the competition?!?

TGIF!

I'm so glad it's Friday today! Marc just got home from his usual Friday meeting with a colleague and the girls are down for a nap! But the thing I'm looking forward to most of all is - my very FIRST massage is in about an hour!!! Marc gave me a gift certificate for Mothering Sunday (Mother's Day) and I have had this appointment booked for a week now. I'm SO ready! I just wish I had someone to go with me, I'm nervous!!! I'll be and sure and let you know how it goes. If the salon is decent and the people are semi-friendly, I will be booking an appointment to get my haircut there next week...but I have to see how this massage experience goes first!

It's American Idol night tonight. They show it every Friday, so we are really only a few days behind you in America. The thing I love about it here is that they show the singing and then go straight into the results show, so no waiting!!! And that's good because I hate waiting. :)

Speaking of waiting, talked to the hospital today where Cerys has been referred to have this kidney scan. They told me it would be another 4-5 weeks until she can get in. SO, I'm looking into to paying to go see a private doctor. Remember, we are on the NHS (National Healthcare System) so you do everything through your local GP and if needed, then they refer you to someone more specialized. So, I'm currently looking for a pediatrician we can see privately. It will cost (as opposed to the free healthcare), but I feel she has to be seen sooner rather than later. Typically, we should be able to get in to see a private doctor in one week or two. Much better than waiting another 4-5 weeks. But seeing how it's around Easter time, there are some bank holidays and NHS bank holidays, so who knows when we can get in! Maybe May?!? sigh.

I'll post again tonight after my massage and AI!

Happy Friday y'all!

Can you tell I'm a mom of a two small children?

I just looked next to me on the sofa and saw the book I'm reading and the Bible study I'm doing...

Motherhood: The Gift Guilt That Keeps On Giving by Julie Ann Barnhill and a Women of Faith study, Managing Your Moods. (Marc will appreciate that one huh?) :)

Am I the only one who thought this was funny?

PS- Cerys and Bailey both have eye infections and Bailey has an ear infection- this is the second infection since getting tubes this past January. sigh.

"Dah-mah Jesus hepping me"

Cerys has started saying she is scared of things for the first time. She will say, "Dat cares me" (you know, in 2 year old speak). I've been kind of surprised how she knows this word and uses it in the right context. I realize that I use the word "scared" more than I care to admit in my vocabulary, but I try not to use it when she can hear it.

I grew up pretty much scared of everything, so to see this start so young in my own child, I'm trying me best to teach her to call on God for help. My mom would quote scripture over and over when I was a young girl and I know that because of that, my favorite verse and one I say all the time is 2 Timothy 1:7- For God has not given me a spirit of fear, but power, love and a SOUND MIND!

So, recently I found an old book that I did even realize I still had. It was a book my mom bought for me about Psalm 23 when I was little. It tells the story a little boy that was scared, but he remembered that God was there to help him because He cares for us. So I read that book to her and she has come to love that book! I explained to her that she can call on God anytime and ask Him to help her when she is scared.

This morning, when we were out walking and a car sped past us and made a loud noise, she said, "Oh dat cah cares me Mommy!" I asked her what we should do when we are scared and she said "Jesus hepping me peas" and I told her that was good to ask Jesus to help us and we can always do that anytime!

She then said "Dah-mah (Thank you) Jesus hepping me"

And as we walked hand in hand down the street, I had to agree with her.
Yes, Thank you Jesus for helping me!

Be like a Tulip

Tulips are my favorite flower. They are beautiful, elegant and just make me smile. I've seen a few tulips around here, pushing up through the ground after a long winter. I recently came across a poem about tulips.

The last line of the poem says,

"Model yourself after the tulip. Have the courage to push yourself up out of the darkness."

Just a little something to think about today.

Say Cheese!

Thought I would just post some pics of the girlies from this week!

Mothering Sunday

Today is Mothering Sunday, or Mother's Day here in the UK. I got 2 sweet cards this morning -one from my man and one from my girls. AND....a gift certificate for a massage!!!! I'm thoroughly excited about this massage, I've never had one before and I could definitely use one after the stress of moving, setting up house, and just daily life with a two year old and a nine month old. So, I'll be looking forward to that!

We are slowly getting unpacked and organized. It's great to have our own things here, unlike last time when we moved here with only 8 suitcases. I'll post some pictures soon of how things are looking around here. My friend has been very helpful by giving me some decorating tips and helping me with a million questions I have about what kind of soft furnishing go with my couch and chair, should I paint this shelf or just leave it natural, etc. :)

Culture shock has set in, though not as bad as the first time around thankfully. But it has been a rough week. Getting use to the way things are here has been frustrating. Remember how I mentioned the free medicine before? Well, that is one good aspect of the NHS. I won't go into the whole story, but we are waiting to hear from the hospital because Cerys has to have a kidney scan done to just check to make sure things are working properly. While I'm very pleased that the Dr. is being cautious, I'm so not pleased with the wait....the hospital is suppose to send us an appointment in the mail and we are still waiting for that appointment. 5 weeks later. Not to mention this is the hospital that Cerys was born in (those of you who know her birth story will know I'd rather not go back there anytime soon, but seeing as this is the number one hospital in Wales, well, I'll just have to get over it.) So, this is just one of the frustrations we are feeling right now. I could list several others, but it's really hard to explain some things if you haven't lived here.

It looks like it is suppose to snow tonight and Monday. I thought Spring just might be here, but apparently not. I'm so envious of you people in TX already wearing short sleeves and flip-flops. We'll be thinking of you bundled up under our blankets tonight. :)

As Long as We Beat the English!

The Welsh are passionate about Rugby. Historically they have been a dominant force in the sport. This year however, they have been far from dominant. Today was the final day of the annual RBS 6 Nations Tournament. Two years ago in 2005 Wales won the tournament winning all five of their games. This year they lost all of their first four game. Their last game was today against the English at home in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium. Even though we had lost the first four and were looking at a whitewash, all would be well if we could just beat the English! This is a huge rivalry (one of the best I've seen in all of sport) and the Welsh love nothing more than beating the English. Stereophonics, a band from Wales, even wrote a little song that was used in an advertisement on BBC Wales Television. Check it out:

Result: Wales 27 - England 18

GO WALES!!!

We haven't forgotten!

Hello everyone,
We have not forgotten about you, we've just been busy with life. Trying to get unpacked and things in the proper place, since our crate arrived last week. We were very happy to see our things, especially our dishes and pots/pans. We will post pics of our house once we get it looking semi-normal. Continue to lift us up please, culture shock is not as bad as last time, but it's still rears it's ugly head from time to time.

We are well at the moment- I think. Cerys will be having some kidney scans in the near future, so please pray that the scans will show nothing is wrong. (long story- but she has had a bladder infection and it's a really long story if I tell you all about the NHS but you really don't want to get me started on that one.)

See you soon!
