Rainy Monday

I had to laugh that some of you thought the pictures of my wig was a puppy! How funny! It would be nice to have a little puppy around (maybe) but it's just my Princess Leia wig. The theme for Holiday Bible Club is Star Wars, obviously. I'm about to attempt to make a Jedi cloak out of a brown sheet for my costume for Wednesday. It all starts tomorrow, as today is Bank Holiday here (and Happy Memorial Day for you in the states!). I'm just helping with Registration this year, but it should be fun. I'll try and remember my camera so you can see some of the other costumes through out the week.

It's a dark, rainy and cool Monday here but I'm actually enjoying it! The girls are resting, my house is fairly tidy, and I've just been reading 1 Timothy. My vanilla candle is lit and there is some quiet instrumental music playing. It's days like this that I don't want to take a nap, though I could probably use one. I just love taking advantage of the quietness that is nap time around here and enjoy watching the rain fall.

I've have not run in weeks, y'all. And I feel better after reading 1 Timothy 4:8-

"For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

Hahaha, thanks Paul! So, choosing to stay in and read my Bible and enjoy the quietness is a good choice for me today! I do feel better when I'm consistent in my running and weights, but from the time we packed and moved and then the stomach bug invaded our house...well, I just haven't done it! And I'm not about to run in the wind and rain today. Plus, I have chocolate chip cookies to make for our homegroup tonight-and that is way more fun than running! And speaking of fun! Tonight, instead of our usual homegroup study, someone is bringing a Wii, and we are just going to have a blast! I've never seen or played one, so this should be interesting. So, eating chocolate chip cookies and playing Wii are on the agenda tonight.

Last week I just picked up my Bible and started reading in Romans for some reason. I've got a pink hi-lighter and I've just been reading straight through the New Testament. I've really enjoyed reading it like this and last night when I read 1 Thessalonians 3:13-14 I could not help but think about the Chapmans. What a precious family. I can't stop thinking about them and praying for them.

"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him."

I'm so thankful that we do not grieve without hope! We do not walk around like men, without hope! Our prayer for students and this city is that all would know the hope that we have in Jesus!

Any Guesses?

This is what I've been up to today...any guesses on what I'm making?!

We are having Holiday Bible Club this next week at our church. This is my costume for the first day, I have another costume to make tomorrow. I'm sure you can guess the theme if you notice the wig. I bought a flat sheet and cut a hole for my head and sewed some sleeves.

Adele, I MIGHT post a picture of me in this costume later in the week. ;) Not as great as yours was, but it'll do!

Thank you!

Thank you for your prayers about my doctor appointment. Not much was said this morning, but I have been referred to see an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor. I requested to go "private" this time so I can get seen sometime this year. The doctor was kind enough to phone the hospital right there for me and I got an appointment for next Thursday. I'm so grateful for that! So, most likely he thinks I will have a scan done and possible biopsy?!? I have 2 glands in my neck that have been enlarged for about 7-8 weeks, maybe longer. It started with me not feeling well and sore throat but has persisted. My blood tests came back all normal, so for that I'm very grateful. He was checking my blood counts and even for Glandular Fever (mono- to those of you in the states) and for more "nasty" things as he put it, like major infection and even cancer.

SO, thank you for your prayers and I would appreciate even more as Thursday rolls around! I'm not keen on having a needle in my neck.

Also, this all seems like nothing compared to what the Chapman's are facing. Please continue to pray for this precious family. I've been a huge fan of his since I was in 8th grade and have kept up with all of their family blogs this past year and it's been so neat to see a personal side. I'm just heartbroken for them.

Can't Really Think of A Title

I've been anxious over a certain health matter lately and that, with everything else we've had going on, I just have not posted often the last week or so. If you think about it, I would appreciate your prayers the rest of this week and especially on Friday- 9amwhen I have a follow-up appointment with my doctor. I feel silly even mentioning this here without telling you exactly what is going on because it may be nothing. But then I realized that it never hurts to have people praying specifically for something, right?

Anyway, if you know me at all, you know that this is one area I've struggled with my entire life. This morning as I sat down to try and quiet my crazy thoughts and anxiety- I picked up my little book Jesus Calling, that I've mentioned here before. It's just a small, daily devotional. What I read today spoke straight to my heart and I knew the Lord has spoken to me about this certain matter. In fact, the last few days of readings in this little book have been about worry, but today in particular jumped off the page and I knew it was for me...so bear with me as I type this out, I just have to share this.

"I, the Creator of the Universe, am with you and for you. What more could you need? When you feel some lack, it is because you are not connecting with Me at a deep level. I offer abundant Life; your part is to trust Me, refusing to worry about anything.

It is not so much adverse events that make you anxious as it is your thoughts about those events. Your mind engages in trying to take control of a situation, to bring about the results you desire. Your thoughts close in on the problem like ravenous wolves. Determined to make things go your way, you forget that I am in charge of your life. The only remedy is to switch your focus from the problem to My Presence. Stop all your striving, and watch to see what I will do. I am the Lord!"

This was for me today. How about you?

Still Here

Some of you have asked if we are okay...and yes we are...now. Both girls have been sick- some kind of virus- affecting the stomach. Bailey got sick in the car one day earlier this week and I knew something was up. She's never thrown up before, unless you count the first 8 months of her life when she had reflux. (Leslie, remember that crazy projectile job she did on your Dad's nice leather chair?) This continued until last night, just when I was checking on her to make sure she was okay and had not been sick in her bed I heard Cerys screaming. I ran into her room to find she had just been sick in her bed. I "slept" on her floor last night with a big bowl so we wouldn't have to wash anymore sheets. Marc was on duty for Bailey and besides an explosive nappy he changed at 1:00am she was fine the rest of the night. So explosive was this nappy that he heard it from our bed and was afraid to go in and see what it was. :) Oh, the joys of parenthood. :)

So, needless to say we are exhausted and having done a million loads (ok, not a million but it feels like when your washer takes 2 hours to wash a load) of laundry. 5:30am this morning was the last of the vomit (sorry) so we are hoping it is truly all gone. And that we don't get it!!!

It's been a rough week in some other areas but we are doing okay now and looking forward to getting back on track this next week. We've had some repairs that have needed doing around the new house and thankfully our landlord has sent people out to fix them. We are having a complete shower over-haul on Monday morning at 8am, but it will be nice to have it all fixed. We've all been taking bath's and it's actually been quite nice. But I am ready for our shower to be fixed.

So, there you go. Aren't you glad you stopped by to read about all the bodily functions we've experience this week?

Sun, Glorious Sun!

If only I could convince her she does not need to wear her wellies!

Unbelievable weather we are having here this week! It's been in the 70's and absolutely beautiful! I could not have asked for better weather with our move this past week! It's been just great letting the girls run in and out of the conservatory and into the back garden while we unpack or find places for all our stuff. They have had a blast!

I guess our girls are acclimated to the weather here...their cheeks have been so red and they are sweating like crazy and it's only in the 70's! Kind of funny.

Cool Window

We are out of the boxes and starting to decorate, I've cooked a few meals on the stove and done about 7 loads of laundry- I think we are officially moved in. :) I still feel a tinge of sadness when I see my old red door though.

It does not get much more exciting than this y'all....a bathroom window.

When the window is closed, the handle is pointed down. If you turn the handle half-way, it tilts open like this to let air in...

Media_http1bpblogspot_sdifd

If you rotate the handle all the way up, the whole window opens...

Media_http2bpblogspot_jcrrl

It is damp here in this country so it's nice to be able to tilt that window open while taking a shower so the bathroom does not get all wet and soggy.

And I think that is pretty cool.

And while we are talking about windows, I whipped up a little black curtain that covers our dragon window in the hallway and Marc has agreed to put it up every night. I asked him if he realized that was a big commitment- every night for however long we lived here and it means climbing part of the stairs since it's not easy to reach and he said he was up to it. So, I sewed it together and it hangs on a tension rod to cover up Mr. Dragon...not only does he shine bright in the mornings, but there is a street light right outside and it is lit up at night and it shines right on my face- our bedroom is directly across from the window. It apparently does not bother Marc since he's on the other side of the bed but I just could not cope with seeing that all night. So, we have solved our problem. I sewed the curtain and he committed to hanging it every night for me. :) He's good like that. :)
