A Taggie for Addie

We don't really refer to her as Addie much, just occasionally, but it rhymed for the title so I had to use it. :)

My friend went Bath, England (a delightful little town if you haven't been!) and I asked her to get me a pin cushion from the Cath Kidston store. Isn't it a cute little strawberry? I can't wait to go back to her store, I went around Christmas when I was extremely pregnant and it was so crowded that there was a queue (line) to get in the store. So hopefully I can go back in the next few months and enjoy it!

I've had this project ready for a few weeks, but finally got around to sewing it this afternoon. I love those Taggie blankets and books! I bought this fabric and the ribbons while in Texas a few months back and I think it turned out real cute. I just need to wash it and then Addison can snuggle with it!

Jumbo Shrimp

Happy Father's Day to my awesome Husband, Dad and Father-in-Law! Here are some pictures of your girls!

Media_http4bpblogspot_ibjrt

Marc said that her onesie should say "Daddy's Favorite Jumbo Shrimp" Isn't that tacky?? I actually thought it was pretty funny cause there ain't nothing shrimpy about her!

We love you!

Happies

I said Happies, NOT Nappies! Nappies don't make me happy. Ok, anyway... I wanted to post some of the things that are making me happy right now. It's the little things in life right?

Now, I'm not one for plastic shoes, although I did have some awesome jellies back in the day. I found these Crocs in town yesterday and I really liked them. I'm not a fan of Crocs- except for my kids-they are great for kids! But I just thought they were kind of cute. I will let you know if they are comfortable.

Our bedroom has bugged for me a while. We have not done much in there since moving into this house a year ago, so I thought it was time. We of course got most things at IKEA- it may not last forever, but it's within our budget :) It's kind of come together piece by piece and I think I'm starting to like it finally. We have had our duvet cover for several years but it needed something else. Then a while back we found the headboard for £3.50 I think. It was in the Bargain Centre at IKEA because it did not have the footboard with it and there was a scratch on it. (A little black sharpie did the trick). My favorite flower is the tulip so when I saw the big picture at IKEA a few months ago we thought it would look nice in our room. And tonight, we found the white throw at the foot of the bed and I got the pillow covers. (The bedskirt and lamps are from IKEA also.) (Oh, and I am not a fan of our burnt orange/red carpet and would change it in a heartbeat if I could.)

Media_http1bpblogspot_hjhfl

I also got new chair covers for our kitchen chairs.

Media_http4bpblogspot_demae

And surprisingly, I did not find this outdoor mat and topiary at IKEA- but the front of our home needed a little something. We always come in the back door and I hardly think about the front door until someone comes to visit and I realize how unattractive it is. It's very hard to keep tidy because we live on a busy street and for some reason all kinds of rubbish and leaves get blown up against our door. Anyway, I thought we could use a little something out front and I got both of these items on clearance this morning at one of my favorite home stores here in town.

And finally, my Jesus Jug from Marc-

Media_http1bpblogspot_vfjml

I realize this post sounds very materialistic and I hate that. I usually have this internal turmoil about buying stuff for the house, because it is after all just STUFF. So I vow to never buy anything again for decorative purposes. Then I give in and buy things. I just needed to say that.

He's Home!

Marc made it back safely last night, thank you to those that have prayed for him. He spent a week in Jordan and had an amazing time. He saw so many things that I am so jealous about! His pictures are incredible.

He got to stand on Mount Nebo, where God showed Moses the Promise Land. *chills* He got to see the Dead Sea, Red Sea and the Jordan River. He got to walk through Petra- amazing! If you've seen Indiana Jones then you know what Petra is- when he was searching for the holy grail. He was so sweet, he said that he had a wonderful time but he realized that it's no fun traveling without me! Awwww.

One day I hope to make it over there. Did he even have to tell me that there was a Fuddrucker's there and he ate some?! He brought the girls some pretty things and he brought me a beautiful pot/jar to which I am now going to refer to as my Jesus Jug.

I will have to get him to post some pictures of his trip soon. For now we are enjoying having him home!

My Week In Review

Tuesday- Put our 4 year old on a coach (bus) for her first field trip. An hour away to a farm/zoo thingy. Said goodbye to my husband who is flying to the middle east and I am trying not to freak out. Had a nice dinner with some team-mates and their kids.

Media_http2bpblogspot_bcbic

Wednesday-Took Cerys to school. Entertained Bailey. Took Addison for her second round of immunisations and a weigh-in...16 lbs. 12.5 oz! Held Addison most of the afternoon.

Thursday-Took Cerys to school. Entertained Bailey. Took care of Addison... the usual stuff. Cooked dinner for us and a friend, she entertained the girls for a few hours and helped with baths.

Media_http3bpblogspot_sphii
(Addison is looking a little shell-shocked here, can't say I blame her. It's non-stop around here!)

Friday- The usual- school, entertain, cook. A friend came to watch the girls for me so I could have one hour at the gym. It was really needed- 1. Because I have self-medicated with chocolate this week and 2. I needed ALONE time without having to answer 50 billion questions.

Saturday- Woke at 6:50am because it's broad daylight this time of year at that time and I allowed Cerys to sleep in bed with me. I will never let that happen again. I got punched, poked, and smacked in the face all night. So we got up and I fed Addison and the girls ate real quick, we threw some clothes on and went to get some groceries and were home by 8:30am. I cleaned house and prepared dinner and picked up some of our college buddies at their hotel- they are here visiting for a few days. We had dinner together while our kids played. Took them back to the hotel. Came home and put all the girls to bed.

Sunday- I woke up to Bailey's smiling face, it was her turn to sleep in my bed. She did great and I never even knew she was there. We got up and dressed and went to get our friends at the hotel. Then we drove into city centre and got on a Cardiff Sightseeing Bus Tour. I had never done this before and it was not worth it, except that it thrilled all of our 5 kids to ride on the open top bus all over town. (Ok, it thrilled 4 of the 5 kids- Addison slept the whole time) It took about an hour and then we came home and ate lunch. The big kids got to stay up and watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the younger ones napped. We ate dinner and took them back to their hotel.

TODAY- Cerys goes back to school, we will pick up our friends at the hotel and hang out one last day! Then we will be picking up Daddy at the train station tonight! We can't wait to see his pictures and hear all about the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, Petra, and the amazing food he ate!!! I have tried all week not to be jealous of his trip. At least I can re-live it with him through pictures and maybe one day I will get to go too!

At Least We Got Dinner...

Saturday night we went out for our anniversary. Without kids. It was kind of a strange day- for starters, it was POURING down rain most of the day. I mean dumping! Marc wanted a good burger (we are classy people! ha) so we ended up going to the Hard Rock Cafe here in town. It was loud, but it's descent food. Not long after we ordered our meal a group of ladies arrived all dressed up. And by dressed up, I mean, not wearing very many clothes. They were celebrating a "Hen" night- something like a bachelorette party for us in the States. They were loud and crude...and not even drunk yet. I was embarrassed for them.

We quickly ate our meal and were trying to decide what to do next...go somewhere else for dessert or just go get coffee. Well, it was still pouring down rain and the Starbucks in town closes at 7pm. I know, I have no idea why! So coffee was out and we are now standing under a bus stop to keep dry. Marc's mobile rings- uh-oh! It's one of our team members that is babysitting our girls. All I can hear is Addison SCREAMING and something about "won't take the bottle."

Grrr-eat. I told her to try another bottle I had there at the house and call me back if it not does work. We swam our way to the car, by this point both of us are totally soaked up to our calves. We got in the car and the phone rings again, she ain't having any of it! So back home we went, to feed that little stinker! I felt so bad, especially since I was all "oh ya, she's had one bottle before, she'll be fine, no big deal!" That one bottle she had was with my parents on our visit to Dallas when she was 7 weeks old.

Anyway, once we got home and got on dry clothes I nursed her and when I sat her up to burp her, she gave me the biggest, gummiest grin ever and my heart melted. Then I told her what a little stinker she was! We put the girls to bed (we'd only been gone about an hour, so they were still up) and were able to have some good conversations on the couch. We laughed about the whole night and promised that next year, when we are stateside we will be going on vacation alone. I can't wait!

Before we left the house for our date, the girls wanted to take pictures of us, so here they are!

And to close this post, I will tell you what Cerys said to me yesterday after she was on an all day field trip with her Nursery class- "Mom, since when do I start doing what you tell me to do? I'll just do what I want to do!"

I don't think so.

She's THREE!

Media_http1bpblogspot_kwxyi

Three years ago today, Bailey Madison was born into the world and our little family. She was born screaming, with one hand (made into a fist) waving in the air. We should have known right then what we were in for. One precious, determined, loving, stubborn, cute littel girl!

I tried something new this year- an ice cream cake. And it was YUMMY. This is a strawberry cake (from a box) with a layer of vanilla ice cream in the middle, covered in vanilla icing (from Betty Crocker) and sprinkles. I need some right now. (She wanted Strawberry Shortcake on top, and we found this Wilton candle on Ebay)

She liked it!

Happy Birthday Bales! We love you so much. Thanks for reminding us to keep a sense of humor! You are precious sweet girl.

11 Years

*A video of our wedding day is at the bottom of this post! Go ahead and watch it, you just might see someone you know! :)

One of my favorite pictures of us...I carried this in those velcro wallet things that you get in college that keep your ID, anyone know what I'm talking about here?

The night Marc proposed to me. He was in seminary in Ft. Worth, TX and I was a junior at Ouachita Baptist University. He drove up that weekend to surprise me!

Media_http4bpblogspot_repgm

And, our wedding day- June 6, 1998 at Northway Baptist Church (who has just merged with Matt Chandler's The Village, random I know) We look so young. I guess that is because we were!

Media_http1bpblogspot_drjda

(I'm still astonished at the size of that bouquet! What was I thinking?)

We watched our wedding DVD (Thanks Nathan!) last night, at the request of the girls. It was fun to watch and remember who all was there and the songs that were sung. One song in particular will always be special to me that our friend Kristin sang. Just one year after our wedding (almost to the date) of a horrific plane crash that left her without a singing voice and other injuries. We love you Kristin and are so amazed at how you have walked this tough road. God is good!

Happy 11th Anniversary Honey. I love your more now than I did on that day. God knew what He was doing when He put us together. You balance me out, wouldn't you agree? I love you.
