Surprise! You're A Winner!
We just celebrated our anniversary, Father's Day is tomorrow, and Marc's birthday is at the end of the month. So I've been trying to think of something I could get him. I wanted to get something special, something that he would not go out and just buy for himself, and something that would be useful. So, this morning I surprised him and told him we needed to get ready because we were going into City Centre to buy him a present. I told him where to park, and just to follow me as we found our way back behind some shops...to the Apple store. As I stopped in front of the store, I turned to see his face and he was in total shock. Then I had to explain myself. I started blurting out things like...I know you are in shock, let me explain, you never buy anything for yourself, this your happy anniversary-father's day-birthday gift, etc. I was so hoping he would not try and talk me out of buying him anything in the Apple store, because I really wanted to do this for him. I hesitated to even write this, lest you think we are just rollin' in it. We are not, I assure you. I just wanted him to have something that he would love and use, and I knew he would never buy anything like this "just because." So, we went inside and he picked out the color and we got him an ipod shuffle. Y'all, the thing is tiny! And so cute. I'm sure that is exactly what Marc was thinking. :)So we walked out of the store, me doing some deep breathing because I just paid, um, a lot for something so tiny, and Marc had a huge smile on his face. And it was worth it. We decided to walk around city centre some more since we were there, and we made our way into an indoor shopping center called St. David's. I had read in the newspaper this last week that they would be giving away gift vouchers to Dad's sometime on Saturday. The paper said that the manager of the center would walk around and at random tap Dad's on the shoulder and give them gift vouchers. As we walked in, I told Marc how cool that would be if we got one. Well, about 10 minutes later, two ladies walked up to us and said, "Congratulations! You're one of our winners, Happy Father's Day!" I could have screamed. I thought about it. But I didn't want to embarrass Marc. They handed Marc some chocolates, and gave some to the girls as well, and then gave him a £50 gift card to a department store called Debenhams! HA! What a great morning! We could not believe that he was one of the ten winners! Now I just need him to go load that shuffle up with songs so I can try it out too! ;)
I love that the ipod shuffle is smaller than the gift card!
